Litter-Robot automatic litter box, standard

A rotating litter box that sifts clumps into a sealed drawer on its own.

Photograph illustrates the category, not this exact model.

What it is good at

  • Sifting happens without a person, so the tray is ready for the next visit.
  • A sealed drawer holds the waste and the smell inside it.
  • A sensor pauses the cycle while a cat is inside, with a delay before it starts.

Check before you buy

  • Floor space and clearance for the rotation, plus a socket within reach of the cable.
  • Litter type: fine clumping litter on most models, not crystals or pellets.
  • Which parts are consumables and how often they are replaced.

Who it is not for

Very small kittens, which most models exclude by a minimum weight, and homes with no socket near the tray.

An automatic box replaces the daily scoop with a cycle. After a cat leaves, the drum turns, clean litter passes back through the screen and the clumps drop into a drawer that stays closed until it is emptied.

The details are practical. It needs a socket, clear floor space for the rotation and the litter type the maker lists, because a coarse litter will not sift. Liners and filters are consumables, so the running question is how easy those are to buy again rather than how the machine looks in a corner.

Chuckit! ball launcher, standard

A plastic arm that throws a ball further than a hand and picks it up off the ground.

Best for
Fetch in a park or a large garden, and owners who throw for a long time.
Watch out for
Launcher and balls are matched by size; a mismatched ball sits loose in the cup and drops early.
